Physiotherapy

The goal in using physiotherapy is to get a patient from an injured or acute stage, out of pain and then strengthened back up.   We usually begin with some passive therapy.   That includes:
ELECTRIC MUSCLE STIMULATION.   This is a gentle electric current that is introduced to the body directly over the muscle.  We are "tricking" the body into thinking that the brain is sending that impulse.  The muscle responds, and it contracts and relaxes.   Finally, it is fatigued...it is just plain tired.   This causes an incredible feeling of relaxation....but more important, the muscle IS relaxed!   The facilitates in the body accepting the chiropractic adjustment and trigger point massage.
DIATHERMY.   This is a deep form of microwave energy.   This deep heat goes into the muscles and surrounding tissues causing vaso-dialation.   When this happens, the excess fluid fluid that has built up is removed and so is debris that gets in the muscles and joints.
ULTRASOUND.   This form of therapy causes a couple of effects.  Number one, there is heat.  This heat also causes vaso-dialation.   It also works on the premise of a gentle vibration that breaks up fibrotic tissue and debris.  It is also great for joints.
THERAPEUTIC EXERCISE.   When you are at a point that the body is able to respond. and the therapist will begin to get you working out using machines and various modalities.   This is designed to help get your body stronger.   We are working at the tissues that have been injured from an accident, or atrophied from lack of use.
