The fact is....in the 1950's....iodine was added to a lot of food....especially bread. In the late 50's, they decided to take iodine out and replace it with Bromine. Bromine, Bromide, Flourine, Flouride, Chlorine, Chloride are all chemicals that actually destroy iodine. So, just when you thought you were covered, you realized that we are getting nearly zippo amounts of iodine.
